1. BEEHIVE
The beehive was a popular vintage 1960s style and one of early 60s’ most enduring icons. Margaret Vinci Heldt from Elmhurst in Illinois invented the beehive hairstyle in 1960. The hairstyle, which involved stacking hair in a conical shape on top of one’s head and spraying it heavily with hairspray was inspired by the appearance and size of a beehive.
This exquisite updo, worn by ordinary people as well as celebrities, was very popular. This style is a classic 60s fashion. The beehive style can be achieved with long hair, in an “half up/half down” effect. The Brigitte bardot hairstyle is one of the most popular and has stood the tests of time.
2. LONG HAIR BANGS
The bangs is a hairstyle that can be adapted to suit your face. It involves a hairstyle where strands cover the forehead, above the eyebrows. They are also able to vary in length. Bangs can enhance and compliment your face. Curtain bangs, also known as easy, unkempt bangs, are those bangs which, like the name suggests, outline your face in a similar way to how a drape would do for a window.
This hairstyle is a combination of straight bangs and wavy hair. This hairstyle is perfect for women who want to soften or cover their faces. This hairstyle was worn by stars such as Brigitte Barrot and Jane Fonda.
3. THE FLIPPED BOB
The bob is unquestionably the top most famous hairstyles. In the 1960s, Barbra Streisand, the famous singer and actress was the queen behind the bob. She wore a flipped-bob with bangs.
The bob can be adapted to fit any woman, but its uniqueness is determined by the hair type and thickness of that particular woman. The bob is an easy and reasonable option for women with fine hair. In the ’90s, a straight bob haircut was another option. Hair accessories like bobby pins can be used to create a chic look.
4. BOUFFANT
It was easy to wear and make, so it was popular among women of all ages. Jackie Kennedy popularized the bouffant. As the decade progressed, talented hairdressers and an entire era of glam-girls including the Supremes raised bouffant hairstyles up to the height of elegant elegance.
The hair is first placed in a large curler, which gives it the bounce. After the hair had been set, it was backcombed in order to achieve the desired form, shape and volume. This style was also seen on Star Trek and other sci-fi shows, creating a chic sci-fi look. This is one of the quintessential hairstyles from the sixties.

5. SHORT HAIRSTYLES
This Twiggy short haircut combines a classical mood with a modern, contemporary look. This Twiggy style is easy to maintain and looks great with just a little hairspray. Twiggy’s gamine cut revolutionized early 1960s. The mod-inspired fashions made this haircut more popular.
